USRA Late Models Join The Show Tonight
Rice Lake WI – The first special event of the 2026 racing season will take place on Saturday night, May 2nd at the Rice Lake Speedway.
Along with the regular five division program of WISSOTA racing, the United States Racing Association (USRA) Late Models will make their first of what is scheduled to be five visits to the speedway this year.
The group brings the look and feel of the Late Models to the track but with certain restrictions to the cars, at a more affordable price to both the competitors and the tracks hosting them. This class has proven in recent years to be a great place for budding Late Model drivers to get experience while also offering the opportunity for other drivers that have wished to race Late Models to experience racing in the class at a more affordable cost.
Last year's winners included Cade Nelson, Cory Ressie and Cooper Sundby but of those, only Sundby is still racing in the class so there is a high likelihood that a new driver will visit victory lane. Somewhere between fifteen and twenty drivers are expected to be on hand Saturday as they will run a full program along with the regular Saturday night classes. There will be no increase in admission for the spectators for this event, so they get some bonus racing for their dollars spent.
Race time on Saturday will be 6 pm with gates opening at 4 pm for fans and an hour earlier for the racers. Follow the speedway website at www.ricelakespeedway.net and the track's facebook page for weekly updates and weather information.
