Speedway Car Show Completed, Up Next Racing!
Rice Lake WI – The annual Rice Lake Speedway car show was successfully held on March 27-29 at the Cedar Mall in Rice Lake. A good turn out of both race cars and the racing karts was in attendance with Mall business employees doing the voting on the Best Appearing awards. In the race cars, the top three picked were Layla Chaplin, Mike Siewert and Austin Ellis while voted the best in the Karts were entries from Nathan Gunderson, Tanner Johnsen and Audrey Traaseth. The swap meet was also deemed a success and is expected to be a part of the 2027 show again.
With indoor activities completed, racers are now anxious to get outside and knock off their Winter accumulation of dust along with getting their new or redone race cars tuned up for the season opener.
At this point, everything is on as scheduled with the track and grounds drying up nicely while crews from Rice Lake Speedway LLC complete some Spring projects and track co-owner Kolby Kiehl anxiously waits for the moment he can bring the heavy equipment on the race track and start prepping the new clay and banking.
At this point, the official track practice night is still scheduled for Thursday night, April 23rd when all race cars, no matter the class, will get time to dial in their cars before the seventy fourth consecutive opener which will roll off on Saturday night, April 25th.
Opening night will feature a five division program of WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks and Pure Stocks. Race time for the opener will be 6 pm .
Among the season highlight events are Kid's Bike Night on May 23rd, Legend Cars on June 6th, the K-Runk Midwest Mod and Firecracker special on July 2nd, The Fastlane Motorsports Super Stock Tour on July 25th, The Street Stock Little Dream on July 28th, The Structural Buildings WISSOTA Late Modelspecial on August 8th and the Dairyland Dash on September 5th and 6th to conclude the 2026 racing season.
