Rice Lake Speedway Late Models Rained Out; Hall of Fame Night Upcoming
Rice Lake WI, Aug. 9 – The first visit by the Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series for Late Models in two years to the Rice Lake Speedway fell victim to the weather on Saturday. Thunderstorms in the early morning hours on Saturday made racing problematic and when another round of rain hit the area in the early afternoon and simply wouldn't leave, the track and grounds were far too wet for any racing action to take place.
It was a very disappointing end to what was expected to be a very good night of racing with a large number of cars set to participate in the forty lap main event .Unfortunately, due to the Challenge Series schedule being filled for the rest of the 2025 racing season, this race will not be able to be rescheduled and Rice Lake race fans will have to wait until the 2026 season to see these cars back in action at the track.
The racing season as a whole at the track is coming to a very rapid conclusion with just three weekends of racing left on the schedule. This coming Saturday night, Aug. 16th, is Hall of Fame night at the track. Set to join the Rice Lake Speedway Hall of Fame will be Darwin Brown, Dave Havel, Rice Kurshinsky and the late Brent Laursen. They will be honored and inducted into the Hall in a ceremony that evening.
For the drivers, it will be the last night to earn track points for the 2025 racing season. Currently, Blake Adams leads Simon Wahlstrom by nineteen points in the Modifieds while also leading the Midwest Modified points by fourteen over Travis Anderson. Leslie Leu has a fifteen point lead over Alex Myers in the Super Stock class, Danny Richards leads his son Cole by twenty three in the Street Stocks and Rob Grabon leads Bob Wahlstrom by sixteen points in the Pure Stocks. At the conclusion of the evening, point champions will be declared in all five classes. All five classes will be in racing action on Saturday.
Then, on August 23rd, the Season Championship winners will be determined in all five classes. The exact format for that night's show is expected to be announced shortly, but again, all five classes will be in racing action.
The season will conclude at the speedway with the second annual Dairyland Dash to be held on Saturday, August 30th and Sunday, August 31st. Two full shows will be held for the WISSOTA sanctioned Pure Stocks, Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks and Modifieds. The USRA Late Models will join the action also and they will be running two full shows in addition to the regular classes that compete at the speedway. Details on that event including times and purse details will also be announced shortly.
