Rice Lake Speedway Hosts Late Models August 9th

Rice Lake WI – For the first time in 2025, the WISSOTA Late Models will take to the Rice Lake Speedway as the cars and the stars of the Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series will invade the speedway on Saturday night, August 9th.

This event, presented by Prorok Septic Services LLC and Race Brand Meat Company will feature many of the best drivers in all of WISSOTA as they race a forty lap main event that will pay the winner three thousand dollars.

This will be the first appearance of the Structural Buildings Challenge Series to the track since 2023 when Jake Redetzke from Meonomonie took the checkered flag. The Late Models also raced twice at the track last year with Dan Bargender and Chad Mahder winning but while WISSOTA sanctioned events, they were not a part of the Challenge Series.

Promoter Kolby Kiehl and the staff of the Rice Lake Speedway are happy to welcome Chad Stewart and his staff from Structural Buildings to the track as this will be the first appearance of the series since the new ownership team of Dean and Kolby Kiehl and Dick Kalow purchased the track.

Coming into the weekend series race, Shane Sabraski from Rice Minnesota carries a sixteen point lead over Hibbing Minnesota's Jeff Provinzino in the Challenge Series point standings with the winner to be crowned in September earning ten thousand dollars as the champion.

Defending champion Cole Searing from Huron South Dakota currently lies fourth in points after having missed two races for health reasons but he is returning to the track strong and still has an outside shot at repeating his title, depending on how successful he is in coming events. Now living in Cameron, Kevin Eder currently sits fifth in points and will be a favorite at Rice Lake.

Along with the regulars who follow the Challenge Series schedule, a strong field of local and area stars are expected to give the Challenge Series regulars a hard fought battle with drivers such as Redetzke, Mahder, Sam Mars, John Kaanta and a host of others expected to be on hand. Seven different drivers have already won Challenge Series events this year in what is expected to be a wide open field.

Race fans will get much value for their admission dollar on August 9th as along with a full show for the Late Models, WISSOTA sanctioned Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds and Modifieds will also compete in full point paying programs. The Pure Stocks and Super Stocks do have the night off however.

The pit gate will open at 3 pm on August 9th, the spectator gates at 4 pm with qualifying for the Late Models and the first race set to roll off at 6 pm.

The Rice Lake Speedway is located one mile North of Rice Lake Wisconsin midway between state highway 48 and Barron County SS. For the latest information on the speedway, visit the speedway website at www.ricelakespeedway.net and the track face book page. Race day weather info is available by calling 715-236-2002.
