Street Stock Little Dream July 29th at Rice Lake Speedway
The wait is over. Once again it is time for the biggest Street Stock race in the entire universe to be held on Tuesday night, July 29th as the Rice Lake Speedway hosts the thirty first annual Street Stock Little Dream.
For a race that started out with humble beginnings way back in 1985 when the winner earned less that a thousand dollars for the victory, fast forward to 2024 when Cody Kummer went home with the unbelievable amount of thirty thousand dollars for his win.
Each year the purse and winners share has grown since back over thirty years ago and the hope is that again on this coming Tuesday that the winner will go home with even more than Kummer received last year.
And for those unfamiliar with the concept of The Little Dream, way back from it's beginning year the purse and winner's share has been determined by contributions from the fans on hand and from local and area businesses that have chipped in to make the winner's share higher and higher. It has been a unique thing that started spontaneously thirty plus years ago and continues to this day as fans contribute not to just the winner's purse but for many other unique items such as the highest finishing Ford, the first car out of the race, the first car to flip and on and on. It becomes a night of great racing and great entertainment and the electric atmosphere of the Little Dream is one hard to match at any other racing event.
No other support classes are on the program. It is Street Stocks only as sixty or more drivers from possibly as many as five or more states and two Canadian Provinces battle it out for the largest winner's share of any race held by WISSOTA all year, no matter the class. Rumors persist of some interesting entrants to the event his year and some of the most successful drivers in the history of this race coming out of retirement to participate but we won't know just exactly who all might be in the field until Tuesday night.
The format will consist of double heat races for all competitors with them earning points that will determine just who starts the main event. There will even be a non qualifiers race that pays $500 to win with the option of passing on the cash and instead starting the feature race.
The best news for the fans is that the admission price to attend this great race will not be raised and regular Saturday night admission prices of $15 for adults and kids 9 years and younger admitted free of charge will be in effect. The pits and grandstands will open at 4 pm, the draw cut off for drivers will be at 6:15 pm and the first race takes the green flag at 7 pm. The rain date, with the hopes that it won't be needed, is Wednesday night at the same time.
For those folks out of the area that would like to watch this race, every second and every lap of it will be broadcast on WatchFYE.tv and the good news is that you can even contribute to the purse on line!
