Rice Lake Speedway Returns with Late Models; Street Stock Little Dream Nears

Rice Lake WI – After a one week break in the action for the Barron County Fair, the Rice Lake Speedway returns to racing action with two big events back to back.

On Saturday night, July 26th the speedway will welcome the USRA Late Models back to the track for their third appearance of the season so far. In the two shows they have participated in, they have shown that they can race hard and clean and provide exciting and unpredictable finishes.

The two feature winners so far this year have been Kory Ressie and Cade Nelson and in both races, the winners have come from behind and made late race passes to claim the victories.

When they return on Saturday, the question will be will we get our first repeat winner or will a different driver again step forward to claim victory and the opportunity to visit the Todd's Ready Mix victory lane. Kory Ressie and Cade Nelson have won the two feature races at the track so far this year and both had to make late races moves to get the wins over competitive fields.

Current USRA National point leader Lucas Peterson had mechanical problems during the last show as he challenged for the lead and he is sure to be at the top of the list of drivers wanting to take the feature win. A full field of drivers are expected with race time slated for 6 p.m. The Late Models will be joined by the WISSOTA Modifieds, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks and Pure Stocks. The Street Stocks will get the night off and the reason for that is that on the following Tuesday, July 29, the biggest Street Stock race in the entire country will again be held at the speedway and the drivers will be going over their cars with a fine tooth comb to make sure everything is ready for Tuesday.

The 31st annual Street Stock Little Dream is the race that many fans mark early on their racing calendar. Last year winner Cody Kummer went home with thirty one thousand dollars for his feature win in this race and as usual, under the direction of FYE Motorsports Promotions, Chris Stepan and Scott Tiefs will be working tirelessly to try and keep the record of an increased and record purse going. Every year it gets more diffiicult to break the existing record but with the help of great fans and businesses both local and beyond, the purse has grown year after year and the hope of all is that the total of 2024 can be topped by at least a thousand dollars.

Drivers from near and far will be bringing their Street Stocks to Rice Lake to race with drivers from at least five states and two Canadian provinces are expected to compete for the huge purse and the honor of calling themselves Little Dream winners. Rumors of surprise entrants and some retired drivers returning for this race have been running amuck in recent days, but until the gates are opened and the drivers sign in, we won't know for sure just how many drivers and just who will be on hand but it is not unreasonable to expect sixty or more Street Stock drivers racing for the big prize.

An electric atmosphere is promised for this race and the unique way of racing the purse through fan contributions makes this a one of a kind event and a must see attraction for every race goer, Street Stock fan or not.

The July 29th race has a posted rain date of July 30th, just in case it might be needed but this race has been completed in the face of tornado warnings that forced track officials to temporarily clean the grandstands, so every effort will be made to get the race completed as scheduled.

All information on both shows including starting times, admission pricing and all other key information will be available on the speedway website and face book page so monitor those outlets for the latest updates.
