Rice Lake Racers Anxious, Three Big Specials Upcoming
Rice Lake WI, June 23 – Everybody associated with the Rice Lake Speedwy is really anxious. From the race fans to the drivers to the track officials and to the track management, everyone is more than ready to get the 2025 racing season at the Rice Lake Speedway back into high gear. Due to a scheduling quirk and then two straight complete washouts, if the weather man is cooperative and racing can resume this coming Saturday, June 28th , it will mark twenty three days since the last racing was held at the track, pushing the all time gap for inactivity during what is normally one of the busiest times of the racing season.
Fortunately, the racing season will resume with three of the biggest nights of racing for the season, back to back to back. This coming Saturday night, June 28th, all five classes of WISSOTA auto racing that routinely race at the track, the Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks and Pure Stocks will all be a part of the program. Joining them will be the second visit of the 2025 racing season by the USRA Late Models.
The USRA Late Models brought a full field of cars when they last raced at the track on May 3rd and they produced some outstanding racing with a late race pass by Kory Ressie being the margin of victory. Hermantown Minnesota's Cade Nelson is the current national point leader in this division and he is expected to be on hand along with approximately twenty other drivers as they will put on a full program along with the other five classes with regular admission pricing in effect. The Kid's Club will also make their third attempt to have their activities on Saturday night also.
It's hard to imagine that we are talking about Independence day already but the following Thursday night, July 3rd, one of the most anticipated races of the year will take place at the speedway. Along with a full five class program of racing, one of the finest fireworks displays in the area will be shot off at dusk. The new owners of the speedway proved last year that they are fully invested in a great fireworks display and another spectacular one will be provided on July 3rd.
And if that wasn't enough, also on the racing card will be the return of the K-Runk Memorial, a special event for the Midwest Modified class that will pay $2,323 to the winner with this race paying $123 just to start the main event. The ownership of the Rice Lake Speedway is thrilled to be partnering with the Runkle family to honor Kyle and to bring this race back to its home track where the first Memorial Race was held in 2017. The defending champion of this race is Nick Koehler, who has been the winningest driver at the track so far this year. Koehler is actually looking for his third straight win in this event. This event is being presented by Pro Powder and emr. The rain date for this race is July 5th.
For the first time ever, the Rice Lake Speedway will be hosting the Dirt Race Central (DRC) Street Stock Tour and that series will come to the speedway on Saturday night, July 12th. A large and loyal group of Street Stock drivers follow this tour and the Rice Lake Speedway is pleased to be able to host them for the first time ever. Many out of state drivers are expected to be on hand that night, racing for the one thousand dollar top prize and DRC Series points as well as testing out their cars for the Street Stock Little Dream, the nationally famous race that comes to the track on July 29th. All four of the other track divisions will be racing a full program on that night also.
