RLS Car Show Set; Opener Questionable

By Ed Reichert

Rice Lake WI – The annual car show for drivers that will compete at the Rice Lake Speedway will be held this coming weekend in Rice Lake's Cedar Mall. The cars will enter the Mall on Thursday evening, April 5th and will be on display all weekend, leaving the Mall on Sunday. Drivers that race in all five classes that compete at Rice Lake are expected to have their shiny new, polished up machines ready to be inspected by the fans. Updated times show that the cars will enter the Mall on Thursday at 6 pm and they will be pushed out of the Mall on Sunday at 4 pm.

Officials of the Rice Lake Speedway will also be on hand to pass out schedules for the 2018 season and talk about some of the exciting new events planned for this year as well as some of the long standing popular events that will return for 2018. Officials are also expected to be on hand to help the drivers register for the racing season with WISSOTA, as licenses will no longer be available at the track on opening night.

As far as opening night, which is scheduled for Saturday night, April 14th, a decision will be made on that event early next week. Sometimes the weather makes remarkable turnarounds, but looking outside right now, it doesn't look much like racing weather, particularly with another snow storm in the forecast at press time.

Racers and fans are advised to check the speedway website and face book page for the latest announcements regarding the opener and any other adjustments in the schedule. It was recently announced too, that the Mini Mods have been booked as a part of the June 30th program at the speedway.

The speedway website is www.ricelakespeedway.net and co-owners Dave Adams and Mitch Hansen can be reached at 715-205-2861 and 715-205-1122 respectively.
