Midwest Modifieds Will Join Street Stocks For Little Dream at Rice Lake

By Ed Reichert

Rice Lake WI, July 19 – It was announced today that the WISSOTA sanctioned Midwest Modifieds will be the support division for the annual Street Stock “Little Dream” race to be held on Tuesday night, August 1st with a raindate of August 2nd at the Rice Lake Speedway.
Negotiations have been ongoing to determine the class that will share the bill with the Street Stocks for the “Little Dream” but track management has decided that the Midwest Modifieds will best fill the bill and they have been officially designated as the support division on that night.

The Midwest Modifieds will be WISSOTA sanctioned on that night and running for national points. There will be no track points however, on that night and the format will be draw/redraw for the MidMods. They will be running for $500 to win on that night and a full field is expected to compete.

Of course, the main course on that night is the Street Stocks who will be racing for a huge payoff with the exact amount to be determined by fan and business contributions on the night of the race.

Last year, Eric Olson went home with $15,500 for his win in this event and all efforts will be made to try and top last year's winnings, which were a record for the nationally known event.

A field in excess of sixty Street Stocks is expected on that night representing five states and two Canadian provinces with most of the top drivers in WISSOTA expected along with some possible surprise entrants.

A new format will be presented on that night for Street Stock qualifying with double heat races being used to determine the starting field. All drivers will race in two heat races with the combined points of the two heats used to determine the feature race starting lineup as well as the Last Chance Qualifiers. The double heat race concept is being used as it is considered to be a fairer way of giving everyone an equal chance to make the show with the starting order of the first set of heat races completely inverted for the second set, thus giving every driver an equal opportunity at making the show. FYE Motorsports Promotions out of St. Cloud Minnesota will again be in charge of the race night administration.

Race time will be 7 pm with the draw cut off and warm ups slated for 6:30 pm. Advanced entries are now being accepted which will guarantee any driver that makes the feature race a minimum of $300 to start. Anyone that wants to pre enter should contact Dave Adams at 715-205-2861 or Chris Stepan at FYE at 715-497-8916.
