"Little Dream", Big Money for Rice Lake Speedway Racers

By Ed Reichert

Rice Lake WI – The nationally acclaimed Street Stock “Little Dream” race returns for its twenty first year on Tuesday, August 2nd to the Rice Lake Speedway.

This race, which features one of the highest purses and first place payoffs in the entire country for the Street Stock type of race car, has become a “must see” event for many fans across the upper Midwest and a race that drivers put on their “bucket list” as a race they must attend if they drive Street Stocks.

Fortified by contributions from the fans and businesses represented at the track that night, the basic purse swells by the end of the evening and every year it is always remarkable to watch the total grow and grow.

Last year, winner Jimmy Randall went home with $14, 152.12 for his victory, an astronomical total for a Street Stock race and a record for the event but one that is sure to be challenged in 2016. With this kind of money on the line, it is no wonder that sixty four drivers representing five states and two Canadian Provinces were on hand to battle it out in front of a jam packed crowd of fans, armed with cash to be distributed to the drivers in many unique ways.

Much of the fun for this event is the almost carnival like atmosphere that the event has and many spectators come just for the entertainment value of the night, whether they are Street Stock fans or not.

Along with the Street Stocks, a full show of WISSOTA Modifieds will also be presented with extra money on the line for this division also. And along with the big money race for the Street Stocks, a non qualifier event will also be held that pays $500 to win, again much more than the Streets are used to running for an a regular basis.

The pit gate will open at 4 pm on Tuesday, August 2nd with spectator gates to open one hour later. Warm ups are slated for 6:30 pm with racing to follow. The Street Stocks will utilize the passing point format of qualifying including a dash to set the top starting positions for the main event.

The 2016 Street Stock “Little Dream” is being presented by Buzz Signs & Graphics with the support of Mahle Motorsports.
The Rice Lake Speedway is located one mile North of Rice Lake midway between state highway 48 and Barron County SS. The track phone number is 715-236-2002 and track co-owner Dave Adams can be reached at 715-205-2861. The raindate for this event is Wednesday, August 3rd.
