Rice Lake Speedway Wet; First Special Event Announced

RICE LAKE, WI (April 24) – The first race activity for the new ownership group of Adams-Hansen, Inc. at Rice Lake Speedway will have to wait for another week. A rainy Saturday afternoon forced officials to cancel the racing action early on Saturday afternoon.

The first race for the new owners of the speedway will now be on Saturday, May 1 at 6:30 p.m. Scheduled to compete will be WISSOTA sanctioned Modifieds, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks and Street Stocks along with Rice Lake Pure Stocks. Pit gates will open at 3:00 p.m. and the spectator gates will open at 5:00 p.m. The track phone number is 715-236-2002 and for more information, call either Dave Adams at 715-205-2861 or Mitch Hansen at 715-205-1122.

While the season schedule and list of nightly sponsors is still a work in progress, the first special event of 2010 has been announced. As the speedway has done for many years, the Memorial Day weekend will feature a racing doubleheader with full shows for all five classes on Saturday, May 29 and Sunday, May 30. However, for the many Late Model fans in the area, as a bonus, the Late Models will be running a full program on Sunday night along with the five other classes. Just announced this week, the complete purse for the Late Models hasn’t been established yet, but the promoters are working with some businesses to make the payoff solid from top to bottom. The Late Models will be fully sanctioned by WISSOTA on May 30 and they will be running for national points that night as will the other WISSOTA sanctioned divisions. More information on this event will be forthcoming.
